About

In 2008, Shane Waters was a freshman in college in Indianapolis when a series of sexual assaults began occurring on campus. The school wasn't sharing details with students. So Shane created a podcast to inform his classmates — becoming one of the earliest voices in crime podcasting, years before the medium reached mainstream awareness.
That investigative impulse became a career. One show became many. By 2020, the network had grown into Black Label Podcasts. In 2025, it was rebranded as Myths & Malice — now spanning six active shows covering true crime, dark history, the paranormal, and forgotten American stories.
Along the way, Shane built the operational systems that power the network — AI-assisted production pipelines, automated workflows, quality certification gates. In 2025, he and Sara Byers launched Margin Consulting to bring that same approach to other businesses: assessment plus implementation, one team, complete solution.
In early 2026, Waters & Co. was incorporated as the parent entity — unifying the media network and consulting practice under one roof.
Waters & Co. is what happens when you spend eighteen years figuring out what makes a great story — and then build a company around it.
